Hey,

Just wondering what small group resources would you guys recommend that have some great feedback from students. I am going to be implementing small groups for the first time at my church so the students will be new to small groups. Also we only have about 10 students faithful so I will just have a guys group and a girls group because we just don't have the numbers to divide jr. high and sr. high boys and girls so... what do you guys recommend?

Thanks

I guess specifically has anyone tried out the---- Guy Talk, Girl Talk series? If so let me know how your students and how you liked it!

Thanks

I haven't tried that particular series as yet, but I do want to recommend the book "The Search to Belong" by Joseph R. Myers.
It really helped me better understand the different types of chemistry and "space" that small groups create, and gives some constructive ideas on how to deal with issues typically raised in small groups.
I used it as the basis for a Young Adult small group, and it was one of the most productive small groups I have been involved with.
Hope that helps,
God Bless

alright I am checking out the book and looking in to buying it but i was wondering is this what you use for the students or is this just for the leaders to read?

Ok that might have sounded confusing so the question is

Is the book for the students? or the leaders?

Thanks

I would say that the book itself is more for leaders, although it is written in a very open, non-academic way that would be accessible to older high school students who might want to talk more about what "community" really means.
There are review & conversation questions at the end of each chapter that would work well for a lot of older students, but maybe not for younger ones.
eg of some questions: "what stories from your church/community exhibit healthy community?" or "how comfortable are you with spontaneity? Do you always need to be in control?"
Hope that helps
